UX/UI Designer
About me
My background is a BSc in Industrial Design Engineering and Iβm currently finishing up my MA Digital Experience Design which I have fuelled with a passion for digital tech and software development. I enjoy being the bridge between end-user and final product, and like working in an environment where design and development constantly influence each other. While Iβm not quite finished with my studies, I have built up experience as a developer and digital designer at several places over the past few years. As my resume demonstrates.
I have attached my resume above and would also like to urge you to take a look at my portfolio. If desired Iβd be more than happy to further elaborate on past experiences and relevant skills.
Checking Mibo's Checklist
- I'm a team-player, looking to work in a cross-functional team. Cross-pollination of knowledge is embedded in everything I do, and something I need to thrive while working.
- I've been the commissioner of publicity at my study association for over a year. I checked whether we were maintaining a consistent brand identity on everything that went to print or was shared through our official social media channels. I'm not the most structured by nature, but when I dedicate some effort it's something I'd be able to do.
- I've designed and built interfaces for real-world products as well as internal tools at VanBerlo. I've designed & built websites as a freelancer too.
- I've got some experience with motion graphics in After Effects. I also know what types of motion are easy (eg. fast) to perform on the web. I'm absolutely willing to learn about other technical platforms' limitations.
- I love digging into complex problems, and simplifying them through language and imagery. A co-worker at Sherlocked said this about a section of my thesis:
"Nils je schrijft heel chill! Het is goed leesbaar, het volgt nu een logische lijn en ik snap waar 't over gaat." - I thoroughly understand how the web works. I understand its technical limitations, and the possibilities that JavaScript opens up. I also like prototyping beyond wireframes and Figma designs, a lot.
- I've been the go-to guy for Figma and Framer at Hyper Island. I even gave a quick prototyping workshop with my roommate and friend Zeno.
- My mother tongue is Dutch, and I've gotten through a full-time master's programme in the United Kingdom no problem.
- I am currently based in Amsterdam, though I wouldn't mind the flexibility to move back to Delft, The Hague or Rotterdam.
- I love adventure! I'll bring my camera πΈ and add some songs to our shared Spotify playlist π΅
Missed checkboxes
- I'm not a senior designer by any stretch of the imagination. I tick almost every box in some way, but don't expect to fulfill them as well as a more senior candidate.
- I don't have much more than 2-3 hours of experience with Unity. Let's call that non-existent experience π.
ps. I hope you've had Recoleta & GT America installed locally. Otherwise blatantly copying your brand identity hasn't worked as well as I'd hoped π€.
pps. I can actually be professional when required. Promise π€π».
